The Blinkenlights Art&Beauty Contest was an open competition. Our target was to reward the best work for Blinkenlights. There are two categories which have been honored: Best Movie and Best Tool.

Using the Blinkenpaint program or by making use of Blinkentools you can easily and effectively create movies for Blinkenlights.

All submissions share in the Art&Beauty Contest. The best animations we receive will be put on the actual playlist on the house and became part of our Gallery.

The Art&Beauty Contest was supposed to last until the end of 2001 and winners would have been chosen at the 18th Chaos Communication Congress from 27. to 29.12.2001. But because Blinkenlights could run a bit longer than expected, the contest had been extended until the beginning of February. The winners have been chosen at the transmediale.02 Media Art Festival instead.

We evaluated the artistical quality of the submissions as well as the actual technical production method. If you wrote a generator tool for Blinkenlights Movies you participated in the category "Best Tool".

Sponsored by the Berliner Congress Center (Owner of the "Haus des Lehrers" and euphoric supporter of Blinkenlights from day one) the winners received a Compaq iPaq Computer. The iPaq runs under Linux and comes with special software to play Blinkenlights Movies.
